چکیده

The increasing need to access information everywhere and at any time leads us to believe that future user interfaces, through which users interact with pervasive computing systems, must enable both device and modality independence. The pervasive computing paradigm sees almost every object in the everyday environment as a system able to communicate with users and other systems in their own languages. The interaction between users and systems is therefore typically multimodal. In this paper, features and computational issues of the multimodal interaction are analyzed in order to examine methodological aspects for the definition of multimodal interaction languages and usable multimodal interfaces for pervasive applications. Its main objective is thus to explore multimodal interaction for pervasive applications through use of a multimodal language rather than through the integration of several unimodal languages.

A context-sensitive dynamic role-based access control model for pervasive computing environments

Resources and services are accessible in pervasive computing environments from anywhere and at any time. Also, due to ever-changing nature of such environments, the identity of users is unknown. However, users must be able to access the required resources based on their contexts. These and other similar complexities necessitate dynamic and context-aware access control models for such environmen...

A Paradigm of a Pervasive Multimodal Multimedia Computing System for the Visually-Impaired Users

Incorporating multimodality in a computing system makes computing more accessible to a wide range of users, including those with impairments. This work presents a paradigm of a multimodal multimedia computing system to make informatics accessible to visually-impaired users. The system’s infrastructure determines the suitable applications to be used. The user’s context and user data type are con...

A semantic-aware role-based access control model for pervasive computing environments

Access control in open and dynamic Pervasive Computing Environments (PCEs) is a very complex mechanism and encompasses various new requirements. In fact, in such environments, context information should be used in access control decision process; however, it is not applicable to gather all context information completely and accurately all the time. Thus, a suitable access control model for PCEs...

Towards a Programming Paradigm for Pervasive Applications based on the Ambient Calculus

In this paper we suggest a new programming paradigm for pervasive applications that is based on the ambient calculus. We believe that a paradigm shift is required, because object-oriented design has several shortcomings when applied to pervasive computing. Most notably, a set of objects is usually heavily entangled because objects hold references to many other objects and perfom synchronous met...

A Generic Coordination Model for Pervasive Computing Based on Semantic Web Languages

Human interaction occurs always in a specific context and in a particular environment, and a common knowledge base about them is essential for understanding each other. By immersing computational system into physical world, pervasive computing bring us from traditional desktop computing interaction, to a new paradigm of interaction closer to Humans one’s in term of context and environment depen...
